Greyhounds are seen as commercial animals rather than normal pets. The fact is that they are normal dogs who need the same affection, love and attention as any dog. Unfortunately these dogs rarely live past the age of 4 since after that they are no good for racing, they are then disposed of by being sent to the pound or to a  desperate life on the Spanish racetracks where they meet a sad fate.
Ask yourself have you ever seen an old greyhound? Where do they all end up? Thousands of Greyhounds enter the Irish racing market yearly and when they can no longer race through injury or age they disappear. Yet we still continue to support this 'sport'.

Bernie Wright of Dog Rescue has been highly successful in finding homes for ex-racer, abandoned and impounded greyhounds. Greyhounds have been sent to the U.K and U.S.A where they are seen as domestic pets and are greatly loved.
